Welcome to Zeerust Primary School.
The performing arts are the most special thing about Zeerust Primary School. We dance, we act, we sing and we strum ukuleles and guitars. Sometimes we work as a whole school and sometimes as junior and senior classes. We encourage public speaking with show & tell, argue or explain.
The visual arts are certainly encouraged too, with the children undertaking two hours each fortnight with Mrs. Hack our visiting arts teacher.
Other teacher specialists visiting our school include Sasaki Sensai for Japanese (weekly) and Mr. Bonner for library (fortnightly).
Dr. Farrell, EdD is the principal and fulltime teacher. He has a master of science and a keen interest in primary school mathematics and writing. Each year we like to build things; last year we made water towers from pins and straws.
All of our children read really well. It is the tide that lifts all other subjects in the curriculum.
For those that care about such things Zeerust students perform amazingly well in the annual test of literacy and numeracy (NAPLAN) and many of our senior students are well ahead of the curve. We tend to worry about where kids are at rather than what grade they are in.
Our small enrolment (11 in 2020) means no one is missed. Being smaller, means every student has opportunities to participate in the whole life of the school, not just the big kids.
We are worth the drive, and our atudents come from as far and wide as Mooroopna, Shepparton, Wungnhu as well as locally.
All of our policies and our procedures are to be found on this website or in the school information booklet available from the school on request.
