Welcome to Zeerust Primary School.
For 2016 we will be operating with 1.5 teachers which means for 2.5 days a week the students will work together as one class. This is always worthwhile as the children can and do learn so much from each other. We engage in reading, spelling, Earn & Learn, affinity projects, and the performing arts. We get into music in a very big way at Zeerust!
For the other part of the week the students form two classes - the seniors and the juniors. The split occurs at about the grade 2 level with students moving between classrooms for different subjects depending on their individual needs.
Our school offers a family-like feel and a high level of individualised learning. Being smaller, every student has opportunities to participate in the whole life of the school, not just the big kids.
Term 4 finds us with 19 students and we turn our attention to preparing for the school concert. During music on Monday we will be working through our song-list and on Fridays, rehearsing the play.
In Term 4 the little room will be looking into nursery rhymes and multiplication while the seniors will be reading about male Australians of the Year who have been knighted and looking into geography as their integrated topic. No doubt studying geography will throw up a number of mathematical topics for us to examine too.
Transition for the 2017 preps commences in Term 4. See this link for more details. We anticipate six foundations students for next year.
All of our policies and our procedures are to be found on this website or in the school information booklet available from the school on request.
